DOREEN ANGRISANI: Inspired by Classic Rock

DoreenLed Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin. When Doreen Angrisani was at her home in Ridgewood, Queens, the air vibrated with classic rock. In her opinion, there was nothing like a piercing Jimi Hendrix guitar riff to mellow the atmosphere in the house.

Rock, said Gina Giovanniello, her sister, was not just party music; it was a "source of strength and inspiration."

By day, Ms. Angrisani, 44, was a finance manager for Marsh & McLennan. She began as a clerical worker and, over 23 years, rose to management. Her job was her job, but what really mattered to her were music, the Mets and Mike Piazza &emdash; and most of all, her family.

She lived with her sister and brother-in- law in the neighborhood they were raised in. She taught their two teenage children the beauties of great rock and contributed to her nephew's guitar lessons. "He actually knows who Led Zeppelin is," Mrs. Giovanniello said. "He must be the only 13-year-old who does."
