LloydLloyd Brown: Doted on His Children

Lloyd Brown liked playing basketball with friends and co-workers at Cantor Fitzgerald. He loved playing on the computer. And he also doted on his two children, even though they now lived across the country.

Mr. Brown, 28, worked as a compliance officer for institutional equities, a job he took after serving in the Navy for four years. He was born in Jamaica, and spent some of his childhood in the Bronx, said a cousin, Diane Brown.

He was living in Mount Vernon, but was searching for an apartment in the Bronx so he could be closer to his extended family. His home was filled with pictures of his children, Jacinda, 7, and Lloyd Jr., 4, who had recently moved to Texas with their mother, and he talked to them daily by telephone, said his stepmother, Iris Brown.

"He was like his dad, who is constantly cracking jokes," his cousin said. "If you met my cousin, you'd think he was quiet, but he was quite amicable."
