Sal Fiumefreddo: A Partner Found

SalSal Fiumefreddo and Joan Chang had both been divorced for years and had just about given up on finding another partner. But the minute she saw him, her heart melted. "He had the most beautiful blue eyes and incredible head of black hair," she said.

Two weeks later, a friend got them together at a backyard barbecue. In six weeks they were flying to Las Vegas, where they were married in the Little White Chapel.

They would have celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Sept. 29. Instead, it became the day of Mr. Fiumefreddo's memorial service.

Mr. Fiumefreddo, 45, was a telephone technician who had been assigned to help out at Cantor Fitzgerald for one day. The day was Sept. 11.

The couple lived in Manalapan, N.J., with Mrs. Fiumefreddo's daughter, Rebecca, 7. His son, Anthony, 11, lived with his former wife. Mr. Fiumefreddo was a whiz in the kitchen, and made a great spaghetti sauce and pizza from scratch.
