JOHN E. BULAGA JR.: Helping the
Future Arrive
John
E. Bulaga Jr. and his wife, Michelle, were three days
away from closing on their first house, in Haskell, N.J,
when the World Trade Center was attacked. Mrs. Bulaga
bought the house a few weeks later.
She will move into it soon with their two daughters,
Rhiannon, who is 6, and the baby, Alannah, who is not
quite 6 months old.
"It's hard to think of what the future is going to
hold," she said. "We had these plans, and now I have to
make new plans or a different version of those
plans."
But, she said, John, 35, would have wanted her and the
girls to go on with their lives, in their new home only
minutes from where he and his wife grew up. Looking to
the future is what he was all about.
Mr. Bulaga was a network engineer with eSpeed, a
subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald. Since he was a boy
watching the original "Star Trek" series, he has loved
technology and all its implications for changing the
world, his wife said.
"He always wanted to have a hand in that, in helping
the future to arrive," she said. "He was so happy that he
could do that."
